Your July Guide to Ivy Place Berry and Flower Farm

July Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm

🌞 Greetings from The Ivy Place!

Welcome to July at the Farm! We are overflowing with blueberries, blackberries, and flowers. It's been a fantastic season to load up on local, responsibly grown produce that tastes just as good as it looks. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, now’s a perfect time to come out, stock the freezer, and share the bounty with friends and family. The extreme heat has passed and the weather has settled into very manageable .

💬 How You Can Help We often get asked by our wonderful customers how they can support the farm. The answer is simple—and powerful:

  • If you love what we do, please consider leaving us a Google review.
  • Tag us in your photos on social media—we love seeing your farm moments!
  • Tell your family, friends and neighbors about us.
  • And maybe the best way of all: invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join you. Picking together makes it even more memorable.

🥗 Did you know? We grow around 12 varieties of blueberries here at the farm, each with unique flavor and ripening time. This helps us stretch the season from late May to late July. Right now we’re picking Legacy, Climax, Premier, and Tift Blue—a delicious mix of Southern Highbush and Rabbit eye types. Check out link for more info on the different types of blueberries.

🌿 Field Update June Recap: We missed nearly all the pop-up storms, and while we survived the brutal heat wave, things have finally settled into more manageable summer weather. It’s shaping up to be one of those once-in-a-decade farm seasons – and we’re grateful.

  • Flowers: Full bloom with zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, strawflowers, and gomphrena
  • Strawberries: Season has ended after a strong spring
  • Blueberries & Blackberries: Field is loaded with blueberries; new blackberry varieties now coming in

February Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm Dear Farm Family, Holy Antarctica, y'all. What a month January was! We started out with some beautiful 78-degree days, only to be plunged down to 14 degrees less than a week later. If you’ve lived around here for a while, you know our Carolina weather likes to keep us on our toes, but this was a wild one even for us. Honestly, we needed some cold weather to keep the plants dormant, but we’d sure prefer it stayed above that 15-degree mark. Late...

January Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm Dear Farm Family, If you were to drive past the farm this morning, you’d see a field that looks like it’s at least half asleep. We often get asked, "Are you worried about the plants in this cold?" The truth is, we actually welcome it! To give you the sweetest harvest possible, our berries require what we call "Chill Hours." Think of it as the farm’s internal alarm clock. Each plant needs a specific number of hours between 32 and 45 degrees to...

December Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm ❄️ Ivy Place Berry & Flower Farm — December Newsletter Hi friends! As 2025 winds down, we’re feeling grateful for another beautiful year on the farm. The early winter weather has been just what we needed — a little cold, a little damp — helping the plants rest and recharge. Most of all, we’re thankful for you — our family, friends, and farm community who supported us all year long. We’re already hard at work preparing for the 2026 Farm Season, and...
