🌱 July Field Recap & What’s Ahead

💥 July was HOT: 2nd hottest on record. We shifted to half days to beat the “feels-like” temps over 100°F.
💐 Flowers: Despite the heat, the field looks amazing—thanks to consistent watering and well-timed rain. Lots of weeding!
🍓 Strawberries: Preparing fields for new planting—cultivating, planning layout, and adding nutrients based on soil tests. New plants arrive late Sept/early Oct.
🫐 Berries: Blackberries pruned (~3,500 canes!), blueberries now being thinned to improve light/airflow for next season.
🍅 Tomatoes & Veggies: Okra is thriving. Sweet potatoes are looking great. Fall tomatoes are on track for harvest by late Sept/early Oct.
🥬 Greens: Based on great feedback, we’re expanding this section—more to come!
🍇 Muscadines: Coming soon in early September—stay tuned!

🙏 Thank you for supporting our family farm.
We love seeing your smiling faces in the fields and gardens—it brings us so much joy to share this place with you.

See you soon,

February Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm Dear Farm Family, Holy Antarctica, y'all. What a month January was! We started out with some beautiful 78-degree days, only to be plunged down to 14 degrees less than a week later. If you’ve lived around here for a while, you know our Carolina weather likes to keep us on our toes, but this was a wild one even for us. Honestly, we needed some cold weather to keep the plants dormant, but we’d sure prefer it stayed above that 15-degree mark. Late...

January Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm Dear Farm Family, If you were to drive past the farm this morning, you’d see a field that looks like it’s at least half asleep. We often get asked, "Are you worried about the plants in this cold?" The truth is, we actually welcome it! To give you the sweetest harvest possible, our berries require what we call "Chill Hours." Think of it as the farm’s internal alarm clock. Each plant needs a specific number of hours between 32 and 45 degrees to...

December Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm ❄️ Ivy Place Berry & Flower Farm — December Newsletter Hi friends! As 2025 winds down, we’re feeling grateful for another beautiful year on the farm. The early winter weather has been just what we needed — a little cold, a little damp — helping the plants rest and recharge. Most of all, we’re thankful for you — our family, friends, and farm community who supported us all year long. We’re already hard at work preparing for the 2026 Farm Season, and...
