Field update notes:

💐 Flowers - Tulips, Dutch Irises are blooming. We are seeding our summer flowers. Spring flowers are looking great. We will offer pick your own stems now and will expand to pick your own bouquets around 3rd week in April which will continue through the Fall.

🍓 Strawberries (April–May) The strawberries are loaded with blooms, green berries and peeks of red. The berries have paused a bit on ripening which is why we pushed our opening date back a few days. Once they start, we will have huge volumes of berries. Strawberries are notoriously hard to predict ripening. When they ripen, it will happen very quick. You will know when we are in a sea of red by our social media posts and daily updates.

🫐 Blueberries & Blackberries (June–July) Blueberries are blooming really well. The weather has been fantastic so far. The bees are buzzing and pollinating. In April, the blooms will fall off and tiny green berries will show. The blackberries are starting to bud and will bloom in the next week or so. Fingers crossed on the cooler morning temps around 9th...looks like dogwood winter.

🍅 Tomatoes & Veggies Tomatoes are growing strong in our high tunnel, and we’ve already planted Sungold and red cherry tomatoes in low tunnels in the field. Lots of blooms on our tomatoes- looking forward to having ripe tomatoes in early May. 🥬 Arugula, kale, spinach, onions, and lettuce are in the ground! We’ve learned this year that we need to start our cold-weather greens earlier in the fall before shifting to tomato seeding. 🥔 Potatoes are in the ground, and that means Dig Your Own Potatoes is back for its 5th year! Ready hopefully around early May.

🙏 Thanks for all your support! We can’t wait to see you at the farm soon!

February Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm Dear Farm Family, Holy Antarctica, y'all. What a month January was! We started out with some beautiful 78-degree days, only to be plunged down to 14 degrees less than a week later. If you’ve lived around here for a while, you know our Carolina weather likes to keep us on our toes, but this was a wild one even for us. Honestly, we needed some cold weather to keep the plants dormant, but we’d sure prefer it stayed above that 15-degree mark. Late...

January Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm Dear Farm Family, If you were to drive past the farm this morning, you’d see a field that looks like it’s at least half asleep. We often get asked, "Are you worried about the plants in this cold?" The truth is, we actually welcome it! To give you the sweetest harvest possible, our berries require what we call "Chill Hours." Think of it as the farm’s internal alarm clock. Each plant needs a specific number of hours between 32 and 45 degrees to...

December Newsletter- The Ivy Place Berry Farm ❄️ Ivy Place Berry & Flower Farm — December Newsletter Hi friends! As 2025 winds down, we’re feeling grateful for another beautiful year on the farm. The early winter weather has been just what we needed — a little cold, a little damp — helping the plants rest and recharge. Most of all, we’re thankful for you — our family, friends, and farm community who supported us all year long. We’re already hard at work preparing for the 2026 Farm Season, and...
